Savor the fruits of your labor

Savor the fruits of your labor

With each day comes a new list of things for us to do.  We finish one task only to find 2 or 3 more that we add on.  We wipe them away and start the next task as quickly as we can, always feeling like we can never get ahead.

With this cycle of finish one thing and onto the next, we lose a sense of achievement and satisfaction.  We forget about the real reasons we are here and what we work for.  What is our purpose?

In Barbados, the islanders celebrate Crop Over.  This festival has a deep rooted history that centers around harvest time on the sugar cane plantation; it is a time to recognize and celebrate the fruits of one’s labor.  There is music, dancing and food – all of which to remind us to take a moment to celebrate all the work that we do.

You do not need to work on a sugar cane plantation to celebrate the fruits of your own labor.  Just remember to take a step back from time to time to acknowledge all that you have accomplished.  Reflect on your true self purpose and how far you have come.  Savor the moment… you have earned it!
